It’s a pretty lonely time to be President Joe Biden. The people that he once considered friends are turning on him at unprecedented rates, and nothing could have prepared him for the brutal takedown that would come from one of his old friends.
Former presidential candidate and former friend of Biden, Tulsi Gabbard, slammed the President for comments he made during one of his speeches that were widely viewed as anti-American and divisive by critics.
Gabbard tweeted a video of Biden where he said the following:
“I will defend the right to vote, our democracy against all enemies — foreign and, yes, domestic. … At consequential moments in history, they present a choice: Do you want to be the on the side of Dr. King or George Wallace? Do you want to be on the side of John Lewis or Bull Connor? Do you want to be on the side of Abraham Lincoln or Jefferson Davis? This is the moment to decide to defend our elections, to defend our democracy.”
Gabbard says the fact that Biden has gone as far as to call those that disagree with his policies and actions “domestic enemies” is just a ploy to divide us as Americans.
Gabbard wasn’t the only one to lay into Biden though. He took a beating from leading Republicans over the remarks he made. Mitch McConnell, a Republican from Kentucky and Senate Minority Leader, slammed Biden on the senate floor during a speech.
He says that just one year previous, Biden, who was newly inaugurated at the time, said that he planned to unite America, to bring us together. He says that this same man deliberately pulled the country apart yesterday during his speech. He said that just one year ago, Biden said that we should see each other as neighbors instead of adversaries, but yesterday he called Americans domestic ‘enemies.’ And not just a few, but millions of Americans. McConnell says he does not recognize Biden anymore.
The truth is that Biden is dividing our country like never before. He should be careful though, because when you play with fire, you just might get burned. And civil war is brewing in the nation that’s tried of a President who is throwing gasoline on the fire of political division.
